Jones Musical Instruments

Terms of Use

These terms cover the JMI Backstage app. Creating an account means you accept them.

Last updated 10 September 2026

The short version

  • Be someone the rest of the room would want on the wall.
  • Harassment, abuse and obscene material are not tolerated here, and an account that posts them is closed.
  • Report anything that does not belong and it is looked at within 24 hours. You can block any member.
  • You can delete your account, and what you posted with it, from inside the app.

The sections below are the terms themselves. This summary is not a substitute for them.

Who these terms are with

JMI Backstage is operated by Jones Musical Instruments, Inc. When you create an account or use the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.

Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
  • One account per person. Do not create an account in somebody else’s name, and do not present yourself as Darryl Jones, as JMI staff, or as another member.
  • Keep your password to yourself. What happens on your account is treated as done by you.
  • Tell JMI at once if you think somebody else is using your account.

House rules

The wall is a small community of players and owners, and it is moderated as one. JMI has no tolerance for objectionable content or for abusive members. Do not post, send or link:

  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or abuse aimed at another member or anyone else.
  • Hate speech, or attacks on people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability or age.
  • Obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit material.
  • Graphic violence, or content that encourages self-harm or harm to others.
  • Anything unlawful, or anything that promotes illegal activity.
  • Another person’s private information: an address, a phone number, a document, a photograph they did not agree to.
  • Spam, chain messages, scams, or advertising that has nothing to do with the instruments.
  • Material you have no right to post, including someone else’s photographs, recordings or artwork.
  • Software or links meant to damage a device or take an account.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

Some wording is refused by the app as you post it, before anyone else sees it. Past that, every post and comment can be reported from the app, and every member can be blocked from their profile. A block stops the two of you seeing each other on the wall. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours of being filed.

When something breaks these terms, JMI removes it. Depending on what it was, JMI may also suspend the account behind it or close that account for good, and may do so without notice where the content is serious. An account closed for abuse does not come back by making another one. You can also write to info@jonesmusicalinstruments.com to report something.

What you post

What you write and photograph stays yours. By posting it in Backstage you give JMI permission to store it and show it to other members inside the app, and to keep showing it there until you or JMI remove it. You are telling JMI that you have the right to post it.

JMI does not check every post before it appears, and a post is the view of the member who wrote it rather than the view of the company.

Instruments and ownership claims

Claiming an instrument by its serial number asks JMI to match that number against the company’s own register. Whether a claim is approved is JMI’s decision, and an approval marks you as the registered owner inside the app. It is not a warranty, a valuation, or proof of legal title to the instrument. Claiming an instrument that is not yours will cost you the account.

Lessons and members-only material

Lessons, videos and member-only material in the app are for your own use. Do not record, re-upload, republish or sell them.

Custom builds and deposits

The build tool gives an estimate, not a quotation and not a contract. A price becomes real when JMI confirms it in writing. If you pay a deposit to reserve a build, the terms shown to you at the time of that payment are the terms that apply to it, and the payment itself is handled by Stripe rather than inside the app.

Closing your account

You can delete your account whenever you like, from inside the app: open Profile, then Delete account. The account closes at once and your posts, comments, messages, photos and claims stop being visible to anyone else. Thirty days later the account and all of it are deleted for good. Sign in with the same username and password inside those 30 days and everything comes back. If you cannot get into the app, write to info@jonesmusicalinstruments.com and staff will close it, restore it or delete it for you. Records tied to a purchase are kept as long as the law requires, which the privacy policy explains.

JMI may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.

The app itself

Backstage is provided as it is. JMI does not promise that it will be available without interruption or free of faults, and features may change or be withdrawn as the app develops. To the extent the law allows, Jones Musical Instruments, Inc. is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change, this page changes with them and the date at the top is updated. A material change is announced on the community wall. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
